Yesterday I left to visit Boone for the weekend and have some fun. I helped Cory move everything out of the house and got on the road about 3pm.
I called Sabby Sprinkles and we got into a conversation about that new movie The Social Network–and how Facebook’s sudden spike in national popularity might be related to the Virginia Tech shootings from years ago. At the time, Facebook was the only way students were warning each other of the danger on campus. If the media attention of this situation and the popularity of Facebook are connected–it seems impossible to measure but it’s interesting to think about.
While talking to Sabrina I see a young kid (looked like a college student) trying to hitch a ride–I ignored him at first–but then he made a “please” gesture with his hands so I pulled over. I’m not likely to pick up hitch hikers but it was broad daylight and it felt like the right thing to do.

Oh sinnerman, where you gonna run to
This gentleman was on the way to Boone from Brevard College in hopes of rectifying a recently ended 5 year relationship with his girlfriend who goes to school here. I asked, “If she’s looking for space, is coming up unannounced the best tactic?”
But what does Adventure Paul know about saving a five year relationship? Hey William Byers–he said he knew you from around school.
I dropped him off near his girlfriend’s apartment and met up with Jamie.

Adventure Paul and Jamie
First Jaime and I had dinner at Primo’s Italian Restaurant–a (huge) medium pizza, 10 wings, and a pitcher of Yuengling.
Our plan for the night was to drink a bottle of wine and go to a triple kegger with Josh–that turned into a glass of wine each and passed out on the couch. I had been up since 6am and only slept a few hours the night before. So this turned into the perfect night for me.
Day 1 of adventuring without a home is over–good start. Thanks Jamie.
